![]() ![]() The quintessential crank from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" pokes his head out of a school bus with a full plate of food in his hands and cheers, "A cooked goose for everyone!" If Ebenezer means "a cooked goose" as a metaphor for laughter, then we couldn't agree more. ![]() They reach the $50,000 goal ("for Frank's conveniently priced surgery," DJ Pasternak celebrates), and none other than Ebenezer Scrooge joins in the jubilation. When Rod comes to, the gathered crowd rejoices and phone lines ring nonstop as donations come rolling in for Rod's stepdad's operation. Inside his subconscious mind, Rod imagines a mascot-like anthropomorphic grilled cheese and taco fighting each other. For a moment, it seems like he might be dead. Before launching, Rod summons the "souls of the animal kingdom" - the eagle, the fox, the bottlenose dolphin, the octopus, and the housecat - all of whom appear as thought bubbles above Rod's head and give him strength by transmitting lightning to his body.Īs foolproof as that strategy may seem, Rod still comes short of clearing the school buses, crashing on the ground. Awesome. The sequence has everything that makes "Hot Rod" its own brand of a movie. Note: There are 5 songs on this list that I never, ever want to hear again…but I will not disclose that…because that means there are 3 songs that I do want to hear forever. This was the song I was going to marry my wife to. This was the most romantic…epic…powerful song I had ever heard. I might have said this one time at a DMB concert “Were you there at Alpine Valley when Dave did Two Step? Boyd was on fire”. Again, I blame college & alcohol…and being a Dave Matthews Band mega-fan at the time. The opening 40 seconds of this song…the build-up…my goodness…gave me chills. ![]() This is terrible…but for 3 months…BEST SONG EVER. However, in other parts of the world, it has negative meanings. Thumbs up In western society, thumbs up hand gestures mean that everything is ok or a sign of approval. 8 hand gestures with different meanings around the globe. I’m too embarrassed to defend myself on this one. Now, it’s time to examine hand gestures around the globe. Totally plausible….totally happened every night at the fraternity house. Dance song…dance song…copious amounts of drinking…Phish…and we all jump around the room. I blame this on being under the influence at Drake for this one. Had no idea what they were saying, but the song spoke to me. When this came on during 7th/8th grade school dances, you knew the night was going to be awesome. ![]() I feel like Freedom Williams should still be belting out songs. Kenny Loggins has to be the coolest music artist ever…although at the time (keep in mind I was only 8 or 9)…I was getting Kenny Loggins and Kenny Rogers confused.Ĭ & C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now” I remember my dad taking me to see “Top Gun”…and when I heard this song for the first time, the only thought I had was…yes…I’m ready to listen to popular music. There may or may not be home videos of family vacations where all I did was do the 2 Legit 2 Quit motions. The hand gestures…the HEY…HEYYYYYY….sweet sassy molassey…this song/video was EVERYTHING to me (for way too long). 2 years later, I confronted Dan on on this accusation…and his response was “Time Will Tell.” Umm…time has told. (Note: As wrong as I was about these songs…it’s not like my friend Dan…who at one point said “Lou Bega is the future of music”. “ALRIGHT…YOU CAN STOP MAKING MUSIC…THIS IS THE BEST IT’S EVER GOING TO BE” Yes…these are the songs that at one point made me think… These “Best Song Evers” were made in haste…and some made while I was still a young music-ling. While I was on the treadmill…it dawned on me on how many of these songs were “The Best Song Ever” (except for Pearl Jam’s “Alive”…always #1…always the best song ever). While running yesterday, I was listening to my “Guilty Pleasures” playlist…and yes, it’s just as terrible as you would think. ![]()
